The Q-Transformers crew discusses Beast Wars.

Synopsis

[edit]

Bumblebee announces that they're picking up after Victory and the torch is passed to Arcee, who details how Beast Wars was the next show and was fully 3D animated. Optimus Prime notes that it featured robots turning into animals, while Bumblebee contributes the fact that the Japanese dub turned it into a comedy, resulting in it being popular with children and the toys selling well. They're weirded out when Lockdown is largely positive about the show. Arcee continues on to Beast Wars Metals in which the characters received metal forms. Optimus is impressed by their ability to transform into three forms, while Bumblebee notes they ramped up the comedy and introduced impressions. Arcee recalls they even made a comedy clip show. They're again thrown off when Lockdown isn't driven into a rage.

Finally they get to Beast Wars Returns, which Arcee notes had designs which were a bit more grotesque. They discuss how as the story got darker, the dub ad-libbing was ramped up and the jokes became inappropriate for kids, though that was fine as it wasn't aired on terrestrial TV. This finally results in the explosion of rage from Lockdown that the others have been waiting for, as he rants about the changes in the show. Optimus suggests they think of a dark but funny premise for a Transformers show. Arcee suggests a cool and exciting show with passages from her middle school diary appearing in the background, so the poems soften the impact of the onscreen events. Lockdown asks Arcee what sort of poems she wrote, and she says a story about moss growing at a bus stop, which results in laughter.
