Grumble grumble. I was the original Palpatine, and what do they do? Replace me. Kids these days...

Clive Selsby Revill (April 18, 1930 - March 11, 2025) was a New Zealand actor. While he was nominated for a Tony Award twice and a Golden Globe once, his most prominent role was as the voice of the original Emperor Palpatine in The Empire Strikes Back...or it was, until he was replaced with Ian McDiarmid in the DVD release. He also provided the voice for Doctor Doom in the video game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. (Palpatine and Doom. DAMN)

He made a number of prominent guest appearances on television, on programs like Columbo, Dynasty, and The Closer. He also played Alfred Pennyworth in the first few episodes of Batman: The Animated Series.
