The Bots experience their first Halloween and Wedge goes dressed up as Bumblebee. However, his 'heroic' behavior backfires when the Recruits respond to a fire rescue.

Synopsis

A massive crack appears in Griffin Rock dam, but not to worry as the Rescue Bots Heatwave, Boulder, Chase, Blades and Wedge are on hand to save the day. Unfortunately, Wedge's attempt to reach the off valve by scaling the dam ends in failure when he's hit by a jet of water and falls off, and he ends the simulation in frustration. Medix inquires what he's up to, and he explains that he likes to train by taking Bumblebee's role in rescue missions, though Medix points out he has a very different skill set from Bumblebee.

The two join the other recruits, who are alarmed by a news broadcast stating Milford will be overrun by monsters and ghosts. Cody arrives in a ghost costume and explains Halloween to the recruits, showing them a room he has already set up with Halloween decorations. Whirl carves a Rescue Bot pumpkin, while Wedge is particularly taken by the idea of dressing up in costume. Cody suggests it'll be safe for the recruits to attend in bot form, as they'll be mistaken for trick-or-treaters.

The recruits assemble at the GroundBridge, with Wedge arriving last dressed in a homemade Bumblebee costume. They're soon roaming suburban Milford, trick or treating and collecting candy. Wedge is excited when a small boy asks him for a photo, but is disappointed when the kid turns out to just want a picture with his friends. Cody is bemused when it turns out Hoist has thrown the candy away and is collecting the wrappers. Hot Shot attempts to stop a wolfman from attacking children, but naturally it's just another trick-or-treater. In the process, Hot Shot accidentally knocks over a jack-o'-lantern, the candle from which sets fire to a house and endangers the family inside. The recruits swing into action, but Wedge's attempt to storm into the house Bumblebee-style is unsuccessful, and he has to be pulled to safety by Hoist. They come up with a new plan to zip-line the family to safety, and Wedge, using his own skill set, puts the fire out by using a nearby fire hydrant. The small child asks for another photo, this time with Wedge in the picture.

As a fire engine hauls up, the recruits head back to the Academy, where Heatwave is waiting for them. Having seen footage of the rescue, he commends them on their work and reminds them about the importance of being themselves... before giving them a Halloween scare from Tough Luck Chuck dressed as a ghost.

Notes

Continuity notes

  • Huxley Prescott returns in his role as a reporter, though he seems to have moved to Milford, having previously only been active on Griffin Rock.

Transformers references

Real-world references

Trivia

  • Discovery Family's advance schedule initially slated this episode to play on September 7, but it was replaced by "Who's Teaching Who?", presumably so it could be premiered nearer Halloween.
  • The Cybertronian text on the display of Bumblebee and Wedge reads "SPECIES", "MISSION", "GALAX", "NUMBER", and "SAVE IT". This appears to be text intended for use in "Big Small Rescue" that was somehow used here instead.

Foreign localization

  • TBA
