Goliant is an immense being contained within the black hole at the center of the Sacred Ring.

During the Age of Wrath, two Transformers rose to free their people from enslavement by the Quintessons: Alpha Trion and Zerta Trion. Eventually, the Quintessons unleashed their ultimate weapon: a planet-sized being known as Goliant. Zerta Trion fled Cybertron, to lure Goliant into chasing her to a distant star system before tricking him into consuming a red star on the verge of becoming a black hole, trapping him within it. To complete the prison, Zerta Trion influenced the planets Agorria and Zertonia into dismantling their worlds and forging them together into the Sacred Ring surrounding it, clouding his mind and dividing his essence. She then began siphoning energon from Goliant, sending it back to Cybertron and planning to kill him once he was sufficiently weakened.Void Rivals #17

Eventually the truth of the Sacred Ring was lost to the Agorrians and Zeronians, who repeatedly clashed with each other. Their leaders, however, had passed the story down among themselves and purposely kept the fighting going, believing it was necessary to maintain Goliant's prison.Void Rivals #6Void Rivals #17 Indeed, when Darak and Solila made peace and touched, Goliant briefly awakened before returning to his slumber as they separated.Void Rivals #12
