Optimus Prime (オプティマスプライム Oputimasu Puraimu) is the leader of the Autobots of Cybertron. In his time leading those forces, Optimus frequently faced off against the villainous Megatron, leader of the Decepticons. Though those clashes, Megatron was able to be brought to his senses and he became a hero alongside Optimus.
Seeking to protect his homeworld, Megatron left for the planet Elementros, which is said to possess mysterious powers. Receiving no communication back, Optimus Prime pursues his former enemy to Elementros, where he will find himself using the enigmatic energies of that world. A chance encounter with the Energy Beast known as Lightlong allows Optimus Prime to become an Energy Master, able to undergo wildocking to unite with various numbers of Energy Beasts and tap into their inner Element Energy, using it in conjunction with his Matrix.

When Megatron didn't respond to his calls, Optimus Prime was forced to make landfall on Elementros. While searching for the Decepticon leader, he encountered and befriended the giraffe Energy Beast Lightlong before both were ambushed by Megatron, who had combined with Captain Volca into Flame Megatron.On to Elementros!
Though he tried his best to fight back (especially when he learnt Megatron was willing to harm the innocent to become the strongest), Optimus Prime was no match for the enhanced power of his former friend, being on the losing end before learning that he was able to perform Wildocking with Lightlong. Forming Lightning Optimus with the giraffe, he easily blows away Volca's henchman Leafback,The Power of Bonds! Wildocking! and gain the upper hand against Flame Megatron, during which he learns from Lightlong that he could be the legendary hero mentioned in the mythos of the planet. That said, Flame Megatron didn't go down so easily, and combines with the returning Leafback into Flame Grass Megatron, who almost decimates Lightning Optimus,The Hero Who Descends from the Sky! if not for Lightlong quickly transforming and barely saving them both.
Afterwards,they meet the timid but powerful Elephant Energy Beast Hydrophant in a cave. Optimus' unfortunately was a bit too direct and insensitive in explaining what's happening to Hydrophant, prompting the latter to have a meltdown before running away with Optimus and Lightlong in hot pursuit. Optimus eventually catches up with Hydrophant just in time to protect him from Spirituan's Earth Claw attack, and briefly has a short struggle with the Dinosaur Tribe member while he tries to pep talk Hydrophant to overcome his fear of fighting. - Part of the first wave of Wild King toys, Energy Master Optimus Prime is a Voyager-sized robot who transforms into a flatnose truck cab of made up model.
- As an Energy Master, Optimus is capable of combining with up to 4 Energy Beasts as the torso, with the Energy Beasts replacing either his arms or his legs, and their Elemental Energy piece attached to his chest.
- In a clever design trick, his arms can be stored inside his legs when an Energy Beast is connected to one of them. The instructions show that you have to fold the sockets down to do this, although it's not strictly necessary as there is a notch to accommodate it. One can also store his head gear parts on his energy axe when Optimus isn't combined with anyone.
