Monocle is an Autobot-allied Mini-Con from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
He'll never brew another beer again.
(Monocle is the poor dude getting blasted at far left.)

Monocle and the other members of the Exploration Mini-Con Team elected to stay behind on Earth's Moon after the Unicron Battles. They prefer the isolation found on the far side of the Moon, a perfect place to simply meditate on the higher self and other metaphysical matters.

Too bad the Lunar Assault Mini-Con Team also stayed behind and made it their goal to do terrible things to the Exploration Team.

Cybertron comic

[edit]

During the Mini-Con Civil War, Monocle and Landslide participated in a battle between the Autobots and Decepticon-allied Mini-Cons... apparently on the side of the Decepticons. Revelations Part 4 He was heavily damaged by enemy fire, and wasn't seen again. Revelations Part 5

The Exploration Team being among the bad guys is most likely a mistake caused by the comic being written with the original plan for the mold-sets in mind... with the Destruction Mini-Con Team molds being used for the Decepticon Lunar Assault Team.

Released as part of the second wave of Cybertron Mini-Con 2-packs, Monocle is a redeco of Armada Drill Bit, transforming into a treaded tunneling machine. He features a gear-wheel system that causes his drill to spin when he is rolled in vehicle mode. He can also be attached to the underside of the Armada Cyclonus mold, interacting with the Decepticon’s gear-wheel rotor system.
He was only available in a two-pack with Scattorbrain.
This mold was also used to make Gritbit.

Notes

[edit]
  • Monocle's mold was apparently originally meant to be used for the Decepticon Kobushi, as that character's bio refers to his "diamond-tipped drill arm", which the actual Kobushi toy does not have. Oops.
