Vertex and the rest of her sorority left Caminus to search for Nautica, Chromia, and Windblade. Three days out, they visited the planet Marasma, where Vertex's charisma attracted the attention of the preternatural ectoparasites known as personality ticks. Hidden in plain sight by perception-based cloaking devices, they drained the life from her spark as she piloted the sorority's ship, causing it to crash into an asteroid near Reuss VII.
