The ZX Spectrum was an 8-bit microcomputer produced by Sinclair Research. First releasing in 1982 across the United Kingdom and eventually reaching continental Europe by 1984, the Spectrum quickly became the continent's most popular home computer throughout the decade. Similar to the Commodore 64 in the United States, the ZX Spectrum is best remembered for its hefty games library despite ostensibly being an all-purposes machine.
