Synopsis

[edit]

Surveying the battlefield, Abyssrain confirms to Megatron that Thunderbeak still functions. Thunderbeak is upset over being left with some dusty wings, but otherwise no worse for wear, promising to pay Drillnohorn back next time. Lightlong is surprised to see that Megatron's ranks have increased with the additions of Abyssrain and Spirituan, the latter of whom Ignite Leo calls out to. Spirituan merely grunts in return. Ignite Leo laments that he can no longer seem to reach his former friend.

Drillnohorn asks Lightlong and the others who this Megatron character is. In a word, Lightlong responds, bad news. Bad news and scary, Hydrophant adds.

Ignite Leo leaps up to attack Megatron, demanding to know what he's done to Spirituan. Captain Volca headbutts Ignite Leo out of the air, informing the lion Energy Beast that he's too inexperienced to take on their leader. Maybe he'll have better luck...in 66 million years! Captain Volca transforms into robot mode and begins blasting Optimus Prime and the others with a volley of fireballs.

Lightlong and Hydrophant Wildock with Optimus to form Lightning Aqua Optimus. Captain Volca stops firing, having witnessed the triple combination. It isn't just for show, Lightlong gloats. The three of them combined will be way stronger than they were with just two!

Leafback chuckles from the clifftop. Three may be stronger than two, but... Megatron steps forward. If Optimus intends to keep interfering, he'll have to make this planet his grave. Megatron promises to show Optimus the ultimate power he's achieved with the Dinosaur Tribe. Megatron combines with all five Dinosaur Tribe Energy Beasts present, achieving Ultimate Wildocking! The newly dubbed Wild King Megatron lands in front of Optimus and the others, who are shocked to see that a sextuple combination is possible.

Wild King Megatron envelopes Optimus in an aura of purple energy, causing Lightlong and Hydrophant to decombine. He then knocks Optimus over a cliff with one punch. Optimus tumbles into the crevice as Lightlong and Hydrophant call out in shock.

Notes

[edit]

Continuity notes

[edit]
  • This episode features the first instance of Ultimate Wildocking (アルティメットワイルドッキング Arutimetto Wairudokkingu), a combination of Optimus or Megatron and five Energy Beasts. The resulting character receives the title Wild King (ワイルドキング Wairudo Kingu). Not confusing at all, right?
  • As Megatron joins with the five Dinosaur Tribe Energy Beasts, we're treated to the full roster of their Wildocking catchphrases:
    • Captain Volca: Burning Fire (バーニングファイヤ Baaningu Faiya)
    • Leafback: Natural Breaker (ナチュラルブレイカー Nachuraru Bureikaa)
    • Spirituan: Grand Impact (グランドインパクト Gurando Inpakuto)
    • Abyssrain: Aqua Blade (アクアブレイド Akuwa Bureido)
    • Thunderbeak: Thunder Elegant (サンダーエレガント Sandaa Ereganto)

Real-world references

[edit]
  • Captain Volca's taunt about Ignite Leo being "66 million years" too inexperienced to take on Megatron, as indicated above, alludes to the theorized timing of the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event—approximately 66 million years in the past, provided you're reading this entry within one Myr of its writing in 2025.

Trivia

[edit]
  • Captain Volca refers to Megatron as their "captain" (隊長 taicho) (in a militaristic sense, although also used generally for clubs, teams, and other organizations), rather than more traditional terms for faction leaders throughout the greater Transformers franchise. To avoid confusion in relation to Captain Volca's own (non-title) name, this is simplified to its intent as "leader" in the synopsis above.
  • The Lightlong-hosted promotional "Wild King Research Lab" segment placed at the end of the episode features Lightlong, in minimally stop-animated toy form, introducing the play features and transformation sequences of the line's Abyssrain toy. Transformation sequences utilize live-action footage of the toys being transformed in hand, with Lightlong narrating each step. A follow-up segment instructs the viewer on assembling Wild King Megatron.
