This mission will prove Scarlett’s worth to the Arashikage… assuming she survives!
Synopsis
[edit]Scarlett descends into the depths of the Mugenonami controlled Sato building called “Tiger” through an aquatic tank, narrowly avoiding an encounter with a shark. Managing to reach the sub-levels, she tranquilizes the security’s control room operatives but ends up drawing the attention of the Mugenonami enforcers, each armed with katanas. She fights them off but is severely wounded in the process. As more enforcers approach, she uses the bleeding to her advantage, making it appear as though she is heading back up the building.
Meanwhile, Storm Shadow, Jinx, and the rest of the Arashikage are busy with a legion of Mugenonami forces at the “Sakura” building. Jinx expresses concern that “Storm Shadow’s white girl” won’t succeed in her mission, but the Arashikage leader assures her she will.
Reaching sub-level six, Scarlett finds her target: the secondary security envelope for the entire Sato complex, which she needs to destroy so that the Arashikage can retrieve the super-weapon hidden in Sakura. Scarlett primes a handheld explosive device and throws it into the machinery, but yet another Mugenonami enforcer hinders her escape. The two trade blows with their sword before Scarlett is forced to shoot him with her crossbow. As another wave of enforcers arrives, Scarlett detonates the bomb. With the entire complex compromised, the Mugenonami focus their attention on securing the weapon in Sakura, allowing Scarlett to escape.
Scarlett makes her way to Tiger's roof before swinging over to Sakura, where Jinx stands waiting for her. Finally reunited, Jinx tells Scarlett that she’s missed her, but their reunion is interrupted by a call over the radio that the buyer has arrived. Above them, a Cobra helicopter lands on the roof.

Notes
[edit]Continuity notes
[edit]- Scarlett had translated “Mugenonami” as “endless wave” last issue. Here we see them live up to that name.
- The arrival of Cobra confirms that the events of Scarlett do indeed take place after the events of Duke and Cobra Commander.
G.I. Joe references
[edit]- Scarlett once again is shown wielding a crossbow, her signature weapon from the original toyline.
