Hot Rod and Bumblebee go fishing.
Synopsis
[edit]While driving, Bumblebee and Hot Rod spy a giant mechanical shark off the coast—although Bumblebee realizes they can't outfight it, Hot Rod has a different idea—go fishing! After a while, Hot Rod finally get a bite and hauls up the titanic creature... only for the shark to promptly swallow the red Autobot. The monster might've bit off more than it can chew, however; inside its belly, Hot Rod promptly burns up and cooks it from the inside out, allowing him to season, fillet, and serve his catch.

Notes
[edit]- This story was published as the second May 2022 issue of the web comic and advertised the Studio Series '86 Hot Rod figure.
- It constitutes both the web comic's first fully-original story not derived from the print version of Go! Go! as well as the final issue on the web comic's original bi-monthly schedule.
- This issue was later included in the first collected edition of Transformers Go! Go!, wherein it gained a proper title. Kodansha subsequently took the rather cynical step of replacing its page on the TV Magazine website with a redirect to an issue advertising the physical release.
Transformers references
[edit]- Hot Rod sports a design based on his Studio Series '86 figure being advertised.
- Hot Rod's penchant for angling stems from his debut scene in The Transformers: The Movie, where he went fishing with Daniel Witwicky. In a cute touch, his fishing rod sports a Matrix of Leadership-themed lure, alluding to his eventual transformation into Rodimus Prime.
- After defeating the shark, Hot Rod uses the circular saw that came with his Studio Series figure to slice it up, itself a reference to the gadget Hot Rod used during the film's underwater Quintessa sequence.
