When Captain Lennox's team was being chased by Scorponok near a small village in Qatar, the soldiers attempted to contact the Pentagon in order to call in an airstrike. Finding a phone amidst all the chaos turned out to be easy thanks to Mahfouz's father Akram, but then Lennox had to deal with the telephone operator—who was completely bored by the situation, picking his nose and chiding Lennox for raising his voice at him, while at the same time inviting him to upgrade his service plan. Lennox had more important things to worry about, and after some strategic hollering (and finally finding a credit card among Epps's many, many pockets) the operator finally put the call through. Notes

[edit]
  • The character is not named in the film. His title is given in the closing credits.
  • According to director Michael Bay in Transformers' DVD commentary, this scene was inspired by a story told to him by US Navy SEALS about a similar situation during the 1983 US [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Invasion of Grenada|{{#if:||Invasion of Grenada}}]].
  • Comedian [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Aziz Ansari|{{#if:||Aziz Ansari}}]] was originally offered the role of the telephone operator, but turned it down because he felt having to play a call center employee with an accent would be too stereotypical. He is actually good friends with Patel in real life, and doesn't begrudge him for accepting the role.<ref>http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Blunt-Reason-Aziz-Ansari-Turned-Down-Transformers-Role-90607.html</ref>
