Meltdown enslaves the Dinobots, then Lugnut and Blitzwing come looking for Megatron.
Synopsis
[edit]This book recounts the events of "Survival of the Fittest" and "Lost and Found", through the use of cartoon screen captures arranged in comic book style panels.
Notes
[edit]- Steven Granat's name is misspelled "Steven Grant" on the credits page.
Survival of the Fittest
[edit]- After Prowl's "you need to concentrate" line, he adds "Find your opponent's weak spot and then attack."
- Bulkhead falling back into the boxes is removed, and his "Too much?" line is delivered over a screenshot of him from just after she kicks him.
- In lieu of casting a shadow, Swoop instead makes a noise outside Sari's window.
- Sari gets an extra "What is that?" line when she sees Swoop.
- An "Autobots, transform and roll out" is added as part of Optimus Prime's dialog as the Autobots begin searching for Sari.
- The gag with Fanzone's phone problem is cut down to just him somehow losing the call and shouting "Hello?" at the phone.
- Fanzone smashes the phone before Prowl calls him a technophobe. The rest of the dialog for that sequence is intact, though it's Prowl, not Prime, who asks if there's any news about Sari. However a good deal of the following conversation is trimmed down - Bulkhead's confusion over which part Fanzone wants him to repeat, and then the Autobots' conversation between Fanzone's incredulous "You're teaching an eight-year-old to do nerve blows" and his line starting "Has it occurred to you...". Bulkhead's following "Define dangerous." line is gone too.
- Fanzone's mini-sub troubles are trimmed out. After we see him using the sub and promising that he's going to find out what Prowl and Bulkhead are up to, the next time we see him he's on Dinobot Island.
- Prowl deactivating his hologram is skipped.
- The initial reveal of Meltdown is consolidated with the following Meltdown scene.
- The sequence with Fanzone being chased by the log is removed, in favor of Prowl noting that a nearby rock has recently "been crushed by something massive" and Bulkhead responding that's he's ready to crush something massive himself.
- Sari and Colossus Rhodes growling at each other is gone too.
- After Sari and Rhodes's potty conversation, an additional line has Rhodes saying "Okay, just don't take all day this time."
- We get an extra almighty roar before Bulkhead's "Okay, maybe that" line.
- A chunk of the fight between the Autobots and Dinobot is missing, including Prowl spotting the acid burns on Swoop. The Autobots and Fanzone retreat right after Bulkhead says they shouldn't have help the Dinobots escape. Prowl's later line about seeing the acid burns is delivered by Bulkhead instead.
- Grimlock's apology is missing.
- Meltdown's "Sorry, I have other plans for you" line is also missing.
- A few chunks from the following scene are also missing: Fanzone outlining the cell's security and Prowl making an attempt to break out; Fanzone's "You want to create a transforming human?!" line; and a big chunk of the dialog from "The one on the left used to be my lawyer" to "Flattery will get you nowhere, Captain."
- Sari doesn't use her key on the toilet, it's just "backed up" and goes off in Rhodes's face.
- The fight scene between Prowl, Fanzone and the fusion creatures is missing, leaving it a mystery how the pair escaped. Sari finds them as soon as she runs out of the toilet. Sari's line about not always being there to help Prowl is gone too, since the sequence where she uses her key to help them is gone.
- The sequence with them getting out of the base is gone too, so they're just suddenly outside.
- Sari and Fanzone don't get a reaction shot to the Dinobots transforming, but Prowl gets a "No, they couldn't" response to Bulkhead's question.
- The end of the scene after Prowl gives Meltdown his choice is missing, leaving it a mystery which Meltdown chose and means we don't see Colossus Rhodes and the fusion creatures again. Though the long shot of the explosion is included without explanation.
- Though Fanzone has more phone troubles, his dropping it in the water isn't shown.
- Prowl thanking Fanzone for his help is missing too.
- Finally Sari's last attempt to ninja-kick Bulkhead is missing. In fact, we don't get to see Sari on the boat at all.
Lost and Found
[edit]- Blitzwing gets an extended introduction explaining his multiple personalities. Also each of his personalities gets different colored speech balloons — white for icy, red for hothead and light purple for random.
- Blitzwing's comment about Starscream's parking is missing, as is Lugnut's last line of the scene.
- Optimus's line about luring the Decepticons away from innocents, and Bumblebee's response are trimmed.
- Lugnut's "Show yourselves, Autobots!" line gets switch to Blitzwing's hothead personality. Bumblebee's line about skipping the doom part is missing.
- Quite a lot of the fight between Prowl, Bumblebee and hothead Blitzwing is skipped.
- Lugnut's Punch of Kill Everything is referred to as him power-punching the ground. Blitzwing refers to it as a "fist" rather than as a "punch" as he does onscreen.
- Before Megatron contacts Lugnut, the latter asks the Autobots again where Megatron is.
- Blitzwing telling Lugnut to let him go is delivered by his random personality rather than hothead. A short time later, hothead Blitzwing delivers icy Blitzwing's "Except that" line.
- The start of the scene at the Autobot base is trimmed down to Ratchet saying Bumblebee's line of "I think one of 'em has a screw loose."
- The rest of that scene after Prime decides they need to leave the planet is trimmed, switching straight to Sari's reaction.
- After Megatron contacts Lugnut again, there's some missing dialog as Lugnut goes "What?" and Blitzwing repeats his last line.
- Sari and Ratchet bickering is cropped from the next scene
- As Blitzwing and Lugnut attack the Autobots, Bulkhead asks why those jets are shooting at them. Bumblebee's line about them running in the wrong direction is missing.
- The underwater fight after Blitzwing ventures into the cloud of silt kicked up by Optimus is removed altogether.
- Unlike Volume 1, the Autobot spaceship is referred to as the Ark.
- After Sari tells Ratchet she doesn't want to help the Autobots leave, it cuts straight to her encounter with the AllSpark, making it look like the AllSpark is on the ship's bridge.
- Another chunk of the undersea battle is missing between Ratchet and Sari entering the weapon control room and Sari repairing it with her key.
- Blitzwing's lines as they chase the Autobots towards the Ark as missing.
- When facing down the ship's gun, Blitzwing says "Oh, spark", instead of Lugnut's "Slag!" line onscreen.
- The second to last scene, at the Autobot base, is missing in its entirety.
