It's Nexus Prime and Omega Doom in a showdown for the survival of Cybertron!

Synopsis

Omega Doom begins his assault on the Decepticons, as Abominus orders the Autobot to surrender. Impressed by the combiner's courage, Omega Doom unleashes his eyebeams...but Abominus is saved by the reunited Nexus Prime, who, along with the resurrected Megatron, reformatted as Galvatron, orders Omega Doom to stand down or be destroyed. Even Omega Doom's arsenal cannot defeat Nexus Prime, and the Autobot superweapon pragmatically launches his starkiller missile, which heads for the solar system's sun. Nexus Prime is forced to deal with the bomb, while Galvatron deals with Omega Doom.

As Omega Doom rampages against the Decepticons, Nexus Prime rushes after the missile. He can feel his components bicker as they are subsumed into one, with his Decepticon components wanting to stay and fight Omega Doom, and his Autobot components urging him forth to save the sun. Unfortunately, he is too late, as the starkiller impacts the sun. The sun's magnetic field begins to break down, and soon it will explode, destroying everything in a few light days radius. Nexus Prime does what he can, using his energon manipulating powers...

Galvatron, the last Decepticon standing, watches as Omega Doom looms over him. Omega Doom finds the Decepticons pathetic, having defeated all they have to offer...but Nexus Prime, having successfully saved the sun, strikes, causing a massive explosion. The heavily weakened Omega Doom cannot comprehend his defeat, thinking it impossible, but Nexus Prime tells him that the impossible is what he does.

Much later, Nexus Prime decides that he, along with Aquarius, will continue his journey. Galvatron, undergoing repairs, respects his decision, and thanks him for his heroism. Nexus Prime and Aquarius will be transported by stellar spanner, after which it will be destroyed, as reports that Alpha Trion is still online make the Decepticons unwilling to keep his technology in existence. Nexus Prime offers to take Cliffjumper back to his home dimension, but the Autobot turns down his offer, wanting payback on Optimus Prime. Asked where he's headed, Nexus Prime reflects that he is unsure, knowing that the recall code is still active, and depending on it to guide him towards his destiny. Cliffjumper says goodbye to the Skyfall and Landquake parts of Nexus, and as the two enter the portal, Nexus Prime reassures Aquarius that fate will guide them towards where they need to go.

Transformers references

  • Galvatron is a virtual redeco of Cybertron Evac in Galvatron colors. This would later be made into a toy at BotCon 2011.
  • Among the Decepticons fighting Omega Doom alongside Galvatron is a Shattered Glass version of Cyclonus's Armada, repurposed from Gentei! Gentei! Strafe. Visible in the same panel is a Decepticon very similar in appearance to Scourge, though later material would confirm Scourge as looking entirely different.
  • Mixmaster and Scavenger are based off their positive-universe counterparts in medic colors, like Hook, Scrapper, and Long Haul before them.

Other trivia

  • The fact that the part of Nexus Prime's mind that is still Heatwave sides with Landquake and Topspin in being more interested in "combat and revenge" against Omega Doom, rather than with Skyfall and Breakaway in wanting to save everyone on the planet from certain death, seems a bit... quirky, at least.
  • Heatwave also gets passed over in Cliffjumper's goodbyes despite having served with him for several months on Earth. Poor guy.
