This article is about the clone from Animated. For the Generation 1 former Decepticon general, see Magnificus (G1).
Magnificus is a Decepticon from the Animated continuity family.
Nice monocle.

Magnificus is a clone of Perceptor created by the Decepticons. Though he retains the same level of intelligence as his template, he holds no interest in making scientific breakthroughs for the Decepticon cause. Rather, the ways of politics caught Magnificus's fancy, and after proving very adept at such duties, he was assigned to keep species enslaved by the Decepticons under control.

Animated cartoon

After the Great War, Megatron enlisted Scalpel to clone the Autobot's greatest scientific mind, Perceptor, in order to turn the intellect that won the war against the Autobots as part of Operation: Doppelgänger. Despite Starscream's insistence that copying the Autobot scientist's design schematics would not be enough to turn defeat into victory, Megatron allowed the project to continue. Magnificus was the end result, and a complete failure at achieving the goals he was created for. He was eventually made a military consul at Ijurn. The AllSpark Almanac II

Notes

  • Like his Generation 1 namesake, Magnificus's colour scheme is based on the Micro Change toy "MC-20 Micro Scope". His origin as a clone of Perceptor is influenced by the Dreamwave Productions comic "Night of the Combaticons", in which the MC-20 appeared as a clone of G1 Perceptor–though that comic issue was released before the colour scheme became associated with the Magnificus name.
  • Magnificus excelling at being military consul on an organic planet under Decepticon domain may be a reference to his G1 counterpart's friendship with the organic Ga'mede.
