Transformers Roleplaying Game

After the introduction of combiner technology at the height of the Great War, the Autobots were forced to protect their few Titans, including Rails and Omega Supreme, from Decepticon aggression. The Enigma of Combination

Notes

  • Rails originated from Ron Friedman's early draft of what would become The Transformers: The Movie, a train who transformed into a gigantic, snake-like monster. Ultimately, Friedman's original script was heavily revised into the film as we know it today; Rails and many other characters were heavily reworked or dropped from the film entirely and went undiscovered until 2022, when Friedman's early draft was uncovered and presented at TFNation 2022. It's probably not a coincidence that Jim Sorenson, who helped dig up and present this early draft to the wider public, had a hand in writing The Enigma of Combination...
  • It's heavily debated on exactly what became of Rails in the final product. One popular theory posits that he evolved into Astrotrain, supported by Friedman's autobiography in which while recounting the first draft's opening battle he refers to Rails as Astrotrain. However, it's also possible that it may be based on Sky Lynx and that someone up the chain mistook his shuttle mode and dragon modes for a bullet-train and snake respectively.
