Atlantic (1987-1991, 1993)

Atlantic Förlags AB was a major comics publisher in Sweden, holding the license for Marvel Comics titles from 1978 to 1984.[1]


Their Transformers output consisted of the equivalent of two American issues and a few The Transformers Universe profiles per issue. Notably, this was the only Nordic publisher to reprint the US Marvel run in its entirety, along with reprinting some UK material due to catching up with the American edition. They printed a special issue, presumably to tie in with Generation 2 in 1993 that reprinted four random issues of the original Marvel series. [2]

They were bought out by Egmont in 2000.

Semic (1987-1991)

Semic was a major Swedish comic publisher, notable for publishing the Phantom, along with translations of both Marvel and DC before its Scandinavian comics publishing arm was sold to Egmont in 1997. Its Polish arm, TM-Semic, published isues #26-75 of Marvel's series in Finland and Poland.[3][4]

Its imprint for American Superhero comics, Satellitförlaget, also published a translated version of Action Force.[5]


Full Stop (2003)

Full Stop Media, usually a publisher of manga, put out a Swedish translation of Dreamwave's Transformers: Armada series, also featuring their Prime Directive and half of the War Within miniseries.[6]

Its parent company Schibsted, also publisher of Marvel titles (Read: Spider-Man and X-Men) at one point left the Swedish market in 2010 and its remaining titles were continued or cancelled by Egmont.[7]

Egmont (2003-?)

Egmont is a Danish media corporation, notable for currently publishing Disney comics and the Phantom; its Finnish division published a translation of Dreamwave's Transformers: Armada series in 2003. [8]

IDW's Movie Prequel series was published in 2008 as part of the comics magazine Banzai![9]

The April 2017 and June 2018 of series Comic Pack focused on the 2015 Robots in Disguise series. [10]
