Your father smelled of elderberries!

Storyboards are, for lack of a better term, pieces of art that are used in movies or television shows to give the crew working on it a visual for how scenes are going to play out. This is used to help frame the scene's camera and get a basic idea of how scenes are to play out; when a piece of dialogue is said, what visuals are shown happening in the scene and the general frame of the scene is determined by it's storyboarded version.

Some scenes never make it past the storyboard phase, however; scenes like the image of Mirage blasting Bombshell to the right are sometimes completely cut from the final version of an episode or movie. These are usually because of pacing, time constraints or changes to the script which neccessitate the removal of certain scenes. For example, the scenes of Wheeljack being alive after the Battle of Autobot City were cut when it was decided he would die in the battle.

These "deleted scenes" will usually end up on home video releases of the movie as a bonus feature to entice buyers if they were far enough into production.
