Sky-Byte comes face-to-face with his longtime nemesis, Black Convoy!
Synopsis
[edit]Sky-Byte arrives at Tokyo Toy Show 2015 to play a role in a Transformers show held by TakaraTomy, though he's a bit disappointed that he's playing the bad guy and not the hero. At the stage, however, he finds his role has been usurped by none other than Black Convoy, who has already defeated the Optimus Prime actor and taken Minor, a child in the audience, hostage. After expositing that he's escaped from prison, ended up in the Legends World, and modified his body into a new form, Black Convoy recognizes Sky-Byte and asks if they will join forces once more. Sky-Byte doesn't listen, being too angry that Black Convoy is threatening one of the children that came to see his show, and challenges his old rival to battle on top of Tokyo Big Sight.
Despite his best efforts, Sky-Byte is defeated by Black Convoy's "Matrix Dead Maser", a beam fired from an Energon Matrix the villain has stolen from Vector Sigma, but Black Convoy is impressed that he put up a fight and lets Minor go before repeating his offer. He explains that he's looking to break Gigatron out of prison as well, seeing his leader's power as a useful tool in his own plans for galactic conquest, a mission that hits home with the ever-loyal Sky-Byte . In spite of his young fans pleading with him not to go, the shark accepts and returns to his home universe with Black Convoy, who waxes poetic about spreading evil in space.

Notes
[edit]Continuity notes
[edit]- Black Convoy and Gigatron were imprisoned by the Autobots in the final episode of Car Robots.
- Black Convoy now has an Energon Matrix, much like Fire Convoy did in Car Robots, as an explanation for the molded Matrix detail featured on his Legends toy. He mentions having stolen it from Vector Sigma, who was indeed said to have granted Fire Convoy an Energon Matrix in the Car Robots episode "Enter! God Magnus".
- The Matrix Dead Maser is an upgraded form of Black Convoy's original Dead Maser attack, whose name follows the naming scheme of the Predacon's beam attacks, which were all different maser variations in Japanese.
- Sky-Byte refers to Gigatron as having once saved Sky-Byte's life. While this rescue was never shown in the Car Robots cartoon itself, it was mentioned as part of Sky-Byte's backstory presented in his original Car Robots toy's bio.
