Troubled by vague memories of historical events, Optimus Primal fights against Starscream and Skywarp.
Synopsis
[edit]A few months after his arrival on 2004's Earth, Optimus Primal finds himself lost in thought on a rooftop of one of Autobot City's buildings. As a result of the spacetime transfer from Energoa, the gorilla suffers from temporary and partial amnesia, but one particular incomplete memory still bothers the Maximal...
As his true time is centuries beyond the time he finds himself in, Optimus Primal has a vision of a truly decisive battle between Optimus Prime and G1 Megatron taking place in Autobot City. Primal tries to dismiss those thoughts with the current situation: the city is thriving strong and the Autobot's Supreme Commander is still alive and well. That doesn't stop him from asking himself the same questions over and over before ultimately dismissing it as a product of his fear, as G1 Megatron's presence in this world has not been confirmed. Therefore, the two can't fight, Optimus Primal mutters to himself.
Looking to the sky, Optimus Primal sees Starscream and Skywarp approaching the city. After alerting Blurr to the incoming attack, Primal flies off by himself to confront the Decepticons. Starscream is not particularly impressed by the lone Autobot, and the two Seekers attempt to pull a surprise pinch attack on him, with Starscream's cluster bombs and Skywarp's warping. Optimus Primal realizes their plan and avoids Starscream's attack, letting it hit Skywarp and knock him to Earth. Starscream is impressed, but attacks and disables Primal's jet boosters. He responds by transforming back into his gorilla mode and leaps on Starscream to rip off his wings. The Autobot rides the downed Decepticon to the ground, leaping off shortly before impact. The Decepticons, clearly overwhelmed, retreat.
Optimus Primal reaffirms his purpose on this world, despite his troubling vision: He'll power through it and fight for what's right in the meantime, regardless.

Notes
[edit]- The battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron that deeply troubles Optimus Primal is, of course, their battle to the death in The Transformers: The Movie, taking place only a year after this story is set.
