IDW Publishing has announced that they will be releasing a comic series that will accompany the Transformers Animated cartoon series, using screencaps of the show rather than conventional illustration. As such, the issues of this comic will parallel the cartoon episodes, with the first issue covering the show's pilot and each subsequent issue covering two cartoon episodes. The first two issues are expected to go on sale January 15, 2008. The third and fourth issues will be on sale May 25 and July 25 2008, respectively.

IDW Publishing later announced an Animated mini-series, penned by the cartoon series' story editor, Marty Isenberg. The cover of the first issue is by Marcelo Matere, who may be penciling the interiors as well.
