The "Giant Purple Griffin" is a piece of Decepticon technology in the Generation 1 continuity family.

The Giant Purple Griffin was one of the original Megatron's most awesomely ridiculous creations: a giant flying building shaped like a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griffin" class="extiw" title="wikipedia:Griffin">Griffin</a>. The Giant Purple Griffin had a mane of prehensile tentacles that could be used to grasp at opponents.
