</table> Megatron and Senator Ratbat have secret plans for Breakaway.
Synopsis
The abducted Breakway has arrived in Science Minister Shockwave's lab, and both are visited by Megatron and Senator Ratbat. While Breakaway is restrained and offline, Megatron and Ratbat discuss his future. Ratbat reminds Megatron that killing Breakaway for experimentation purposes is against council intelligence guidelines, but Megatron and Shockwave argue that Breakaway is a special case.
Breakaway is far more advanced than any outworlder Shockwave has ever seen. Studying him will lead to the most important biological discoveries in one thousand stellar cycles. However, the depth at which Shockwave would need to probe Breakaway to uncover these discoveries would necessarily end Breakaway's life. Ratbat agrees to put this request before Optimus Prime.
Meanwhile, Skyfall has a very poor opinion of Alpha Trion and his ceiling of hanging corpses. Holding him at gunpoint, he demands an explanation. He and Landquake are introduced to Topspin, Alpha Trion's technician. He explains that these bodies are not corpses, but the result of attempts to move sparks from body to body, or from body to a magnetic cage; the transfer is a unique specialty of Topspin's. Using this procedure, they may be able to escape from Axiom Nexus to their originating universes.
Reluctantly, Skyfall and Landquake agree to team up with Alpha Trion and Topspin if it means they can rescue Breakaway. Alpha Trion turns to Skyfall and tells him that should he fall in the coming battle, Skyfall must take up his sword. It once belonged to a Decepticon leader named Slaughter, and its evil programming can warp the mind of its bearer. However, Alpha Trion believes Skyfall is strong enough of spark to resist its call.
Quotes
"The sword was not originally mine. It belonged to a Decepticon leader named 'Slaughter.' It contains much of his original programming, encrypted so deeply that it is impossible to change or remove. The bearer of the sword is under constant assault by the thoughts of an ancient and evil mind."<br /> "You're kidding."
- —Alpha Trion and Skyfall have a heart-to-heart.
