The waning popularity of Transformers became evident with the advent of the Zone franchise, which received very little of the traditional media support.
The Zone franchise featured the following primary components:
- A toyline
- A one-episode OVA
- One chapter of manga telling the same story as the OVA
- A series of story pages published in TV Magazine
