This article is about the pack-in comics. For the monthly serialized comics, see Henkei! Henkei! (Comic Bun Bun).

</td></tr></table> Unlike the Hasbro version of this line, the toys in the Henkei! Henkei! line come with several mini-comics drawn by Naoto Tsushima, usually promoting the toys they are sold with.

Unlike past Japanese series, this comic presents the Henkei! universe as a new continuity, rather than shoehorning it somewhere into the Generation 1 cartoon continuity. An on-going monthly Henkei! series is currently being published in Comic Bun Bun, but by chapter 4, it's unlikely they share continuity with each other.

Volume 1

"The Cybertrons of Justice! Protect Earth!"

In the 21st Century, Megatron attacks Tokyo, planning to steal its energy and enslave the humans. Then the Autobots arrive to stop the Decepticons, saying they will always find the Decepticons and stop them thanks to the humans' information lines. Starscream is taken out by Bumblebee and Grimlock, while Megatron fights Optimus Prime. The Decepticons then retreat, and the humans thank the Autobots.

Volume 2

"Enter the Triple Changer Astrotrain!!"

Astrotrain is in train mode attempting to derail a train at Shinjuku Station until Mirage and Grimlock show up. Astrotrain transforms to space shuttle mode to escape from Mirage, and then transforms again, this time into his robot mode. While Optimus Prime and Bumblebee attempt to guard the citizens from Astrotrain, it is revealed that the attack is all part of a Decepticon plan. While Astrotrain creates a distraction, Megatron and the other Decepticons are slowly collecting energon. Megatron is then attacked by a new Autobot warrior...

Volume 3

"The blazing warrior Hot Rodimus has arrived!!"

Megatron attempts to fire at the oncoming Autobot warrior Rodimus, who transforms and promptly goes head on against the Decepticon leader, only to get his head slammed into the ground. A kick sends Megatron jumping back and Rodimus proceeds to take aim but the Autobot's vision is messed up and not wanting to risk creating a huge explosion on shooting the plant, he decides to stick with close-range combat. Starscream tries to hit Rodimus with his null-ray but a dodge at the last moment has the shot hitting Megatron instead. Nevertheless, Megatron retreats with a cube of energon and a parting shot at Rodimus. Back to Astrotrain, Rodimus finally joins up with the other Autobots.

Volume 4

"Perhaps the time has come for me to fight as a soldier, too...!!"

Ramjet is questioning Starscream about the new mech they found frozen in a glacier up in the Arctic Circle, for whom Starscream has unsavory plans involving a mask/helmet. Back down in Japan, the Seekers are raiding an energy plant, revealing the newcomer as Jetfire. Amidst the plundering, Jetfire pleads with Starscream to stop shooting at the human workers and to add to the beginning misfortune of the Decepticon, the Autobots show up to save the workers. Jetfire still pleading, Starscream yells at him that Jetfire's reason for living is that of a soldier. Just before getting shot at, Jetfire finally rips off the control helmet and considers himself a scientist (with a brand, spankin' new Autobot symbol), but will become a soldier to defend humans from those like his old friend. Watching the Seekers retreat, Jetfire wistfully reminisces that he and Starscream never got along well entirely in the past.

Notes

  • Although the control mask/helmet wasn't featured in the original episode, this volume is a full-on homage to their reunion and relationship—from Skyfire dug out of ice and temporarily with the Decepticons, Starscream mentioning their past scientist days, to the big guy eventually joining with the Autobots.

Volume 5

"If we stand together, no enemies can stand against us!! Get ready Destrons!!"

While idling on the side of a road, a police car immediately gives chase to a speeding sports car whipping around a bend and after ignoring the warning to pull over, said police car transforms into Prowl, flipping in the sports car's path. Turns out that Sunstreaker was saving a kid who had apparently graffitied a furious Ramjet, Thundercracker, and another Seeker, to which all three are out for the boy's blood. Two-on-three fight ensues and the Decepticons are sent packing. The usual words of safety regarding Decepticons are given to the boy, although Sunstreaker praises the kid on the stunt and comments on going with spray painting them AGAIN (giving each other the thumbs-up). Prowl is obviously less than pleased (as usual) at such antics.

Volume 6

"The Cybertrons at the mercy of the enemy... Is there any chance!?"

Silverstreak is chasing a lorry that may be involved in theft of energon. Eventually chasing it down to a dead-end, Silverstreak believes that he's finally caught up with the culprit but upon turning the corner, it's gone. Elsewhere, Sideswipe is chasing a gunship that's ALSO involved with stealing energon, using his jet pack to catch up with the gunship in the air. The plane makes a turn around a building, and it's gone by the time Sideswipe catches up (seeing a pattern here?). Back on asphalt, Silverstreak catches up with the other Autobot and after asking each other if they've seen the tanker/gunship, which devolves to a minor argument, the thief finally makes his entrance. And who else but the triple-changing Tankor, showing off his other two alternate modes and trashing some public highway while knocking Streak aside in the process. Sideswipe puts a quick end to that "argument" by rocketing above Tankor and forcing the Decepticon into retreat by shooting him in the back. Silverstreak will need some help on getting out of his embarrassing position of being stuck upside down in the debris.

Volume 7

"he energon's power on Megatron...!?"

Despite being cornered with his cache of energon cubes, Megatron isn't too worried with the Autobots surrounding him. Instead, he takes a nice bite out of one of the cubes, transforming (no pun intended) into a souped up and several-bolts-short-of-a-full-engine-block Galvatron. After making VERY short work of the Autobots and just as he's about to crush Optimus Prime's head, rescue comes in the form of Ironhide. Gunfire exchanges, and when Ironhide tries to go for stabbing with his blade, Galvatron very much freaks the Autobots out by catching it with his TEETH. Just as he's about to shoot Ironhide, an unexpected explosion (of sorts) occurs, and the dissipating smoke and energy reveals a severely weakened Megatron. To which the Autobot war horse proceeds to fire at the Decepticon leader...

Volume 8

"The high-speed warrior who runs in the wilderness appears!!"

Hound is trying to catch Ravage from pilfering away a large sack of energon cubes but unfortunately loses the tricksy Cassetticon after an hour's chase. However, he catches an Autobot signal...

Meanwhile, Starscream is gloating over the loot after seeing Megatron transform into Galvatron, and is about to attempt the same thing to achieve the same results. Interruption comes in the form of someone loudly praising Starscream for being quite the gourmet of the unknown speaker's homeland's energon. The speaker is revealed to be a cheetah, proclaiming that as king, he can't just let lazy bums "borrow" for themselves without asking. Just as Starscream quickly gets over the fact of a talking cheetah, it transforms into Cheetor and promptly makes short work of both Decepticons about the same time Hound arrives, saying that living to fight is the establishment of "survival of the fittest." Strangely, Hound finds the "law of the jungle" philosophy (another way of saying "survival of the fittest") beautiful.

Nonetheless, Cheetor invites Hound to come back to play again in the safari park, to which the Autobot happily agrees.

Notes

  • Henkei Cheetor has a habit of ending most of his sentences with "Jā-n", a habit he maintained from the Beast Wars Metals manga. Although he isn't the only Transformers character to have an odd speech habit—certain Japanese characters can give hints of their personalities by how they speak, the way how they end sentences as one possible method.

Volume 9

"Take that! Cybertrons!! Don't get in the way of Lord Galvatron!!"

Starscream is led by a fellow jet, asking if the volcanic field they're flying over is the correct place. Just as his guide reassures him as to their destination, Nightstick is seen gesturing both down, and Cyclonus leads him down to the edge of an active caldera. Cyclonus says that in the magma lies the means to grant Megatron his true strength, heralding the New Emperor of Destruction. While Cyclonus is singing praises of their Decepticon leader, the Decepticon Air Commander is seething at the thought of not being able to acquire power for himself at the rate of how events are playing out.

Unfortunately, Ironhide tells the Decepticons that they can have a very nice long nap with their beloved leader, Rodimus and Mirage backing him up. Seeing the shock on Cyclonus' face, Rodimus gleefully explains that they had followed Nightstick before both factions begin fighting. During the fire exchange, the shots from the Autobots' weapons hit the ground near where the two jets were standing, causing the created rubble to block the caldera, much to Cyclonus' horror.

While two parties seem pleased that the crater is covered and thinks it's over (the Autobots setting their sights on Starscream, Starscream gloating he's the leader), an explosion sends everyone flying in all directions. From the magma and rubble erupts (no pun intended) a very torqued-off Galvatron...

...who is actually angry for being rudely woken up. Not realizing that a fight had just occurred, he berates both exhausted jets for being lazy idiots, which Cyclonus weakly protests.

Volume 10

"Emergency dispatch!! Protect Earth from the Destrons!!"

As Inferno's putting out fires and getting ready to go back into one of the buildings upon hearing there's still a kid inside, Ratchet saves him the trouble by coming out of the just exploded building with girl in tow. Needing to head to the hospital to treat the girl properly, Ratchet takes the girl's mother along but Starscream decides to take pot shots at the medic. Inferno shields his fellow emergency vehicle and retaliates with his water cannon, giving Ratchet the chance to break for it.

Thankfully, Ratchet was able to deliver the girl to the hospital in time but he's not quite done yet. Inferno's covered in injuries, prompting the doc-bot to cheerfully get to work, despite the fire truck's pained protests.
