The storyline of Zone was told in the story pages of TV Magazine from February 1990 to January 1991. It was illustrated by Ban Magami, who also illustrated the Zone manga.
It follows the the adventures of the Micro Transformers and Powered Masters as they fight off the attacks of Violen Jiger and the Nine Great Demon Generals, who are seeking the Zodiac energy. This iteration of the story is notable for picking up where the one-shot Zone OVA left off, including the introduction of Road Fire, the third Powered Master, as well as Metrotitan, a new Demon General.
