Police drones are automatons created by Isaac Sumdac for the purpose of law enforcement. They are used by the police department in Detroit, and possibly elsewhere in the world as well.

Isaac Sumdac first unveiled the current type of police drone to Detroit's mayor and Captain Fanzone, claiming it was larger, faster, and had better recognition software than previous drones. Unfortunately, the specimen Sumdac was showing off had been sabotaged by one of his business rivals, and exploded violently. The crowd was not impressed. Total Meltdown Regardless, the police drones soon came into use, and were seen among the police forces trying to deal with the rampaging Dinobots. Blast from the Past
A police drone later hunted Nino Saxton after a successful robbery, but the thief evaded its scanners by simply standing on top of it. Saxton then jumped across a storage container, leaving the police drone to repeatedly bump into it while trying to pursue him. Nanosec When the malevolent Headmaster stole the body of the Autobot Bulkhead and attacked the Detroit Solar Fusion Power Plant, a group of police drones went on the offensive, but were rather easily swept aside by Bulkhead's wrecking ball.Headmaster
When the AllSpark was shattered, a fragment of it ended up lodged in a console in an automated police drone factory, causing it to go haywire and mass-produce crazed police drones that attacked anything and everything.
