Ratchet's EMP generator

Ratchet's EMP generator is a medical device from the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Ratchet's EMP generator can create an electromagnetic pulse that can shut down a Transformer the size of Grimlock. The EMP generator is, in Ratchet's words, a medical tool, not a weapon, but Lockdown begs to differ. Ratchet used the EMP generator to heal civilians, soldiers, and a female intelligence officer.

Transformers Animated continuity

During the the Great War, Ratchet used his EMP to anesthetize Arcee, but as he was transporting her, he was ambushed by Lockdown. Lockdown took Ratchet's EMP generator as a trophy. Arcee told Ratchet to wipe her memory core with his EMP generator, but the device went off and wiped her memory completely. Lockdown kept the device for countless years.

In the present day, Lockdown returned and caused a city wide blackout in Detroit. He kidnapped Optimus Prime with the EMP generator and took down Bulkhead, Bumblebee, and Prowl. When Ratchet showed up and stopped him, Lockdown shot Rachet with the EMP, but it didn't work because Ratchet is immune to his own technology. In the end, Ratchet saved Optimus and retrieved the device. The Thrill of the Hunt

When there were reports of the Dinobots rampaging, Optimus sent Prowl and Bulkhead to Dinobot Island to investigate. Prowl was modified with Ratchet's EMP generator and used it remove a thorn "stuck" in Grimlock's foot. Prowl kept the EMP until he stopped Starscream from destroying Detroit. The EMP generator comes attached to the figure. Pressing down on the device flips out two barrels to complete the apperance. The EMP generator can be removed and attached to the Deluxe Ratchet toy via the "war wound". Awesome.
