When world's destiny is at stake, when all hope seems to be lost, when every hero has been defeated, rises from the aches of despair an uncanny team, forming the most unlikely alliance to restore Hope and Justice. They are know as... The Substitute Autobots!...
Yup, we are pretty much all doomed.
The team's line-up is:
- Sari Sumdac (Leader)
- Scrapper
- Snarl
- Wreck-Gar

When the Earth-bound Autobots and the full population of Detroit were under the control of Soundwave, Sari Sumdac Went to Dinobot Island, hoping to find some help to rescue them. But Grimlock and Swoop were less than responsive to her call. Determined to not give up Sari pursued her quest an finally found out Scrapper and the newly named Snarl. Being more convincing this, they accepted to return with her to the city. On their way, they met Wreck-Gar who was all but too happy to join the team. Thus was born the ragtag unit called the Substitute Autobots whose Sari naturally took the lead. Well, theoretically.
Before they were able to even elaborate a concrete plan, they lost both the element of surprise and their outnumbering advantage, having to face not only soudwave, but also the whole brainwashed team of Optimus Prime. Having no choice but to attack, Sari ordered to pass to action, but thing didn't went well. Wreck Gar was a little too overobedient to follow any order, and lacking the adequate equipment, Scrapper was simply ineffective and Snarl had just not yet understood what he was supposed to do. Having to deal with both Laserbeak and Soundwave, Sari soon lost control of her jet-pack and was ejected in the snow, soon followed by the rest of her team.
Realizing Soundwave wouldn't be able to control all the Autobots at the same time, Sari asked for a coordinated attack, Snarl charging on Ratchet, Scrapper taking on Bulkhead, Wreck-Gar on Bumblebee and Prowl, and her dealing herself with Optimus Prime, effectively giving too much for the Decepticon to handle with. The team was finally getting it, they were beginning to take the upper hand in the battle. And then Wreck-Gar played some accordion... Bumblebee and prowl then tried to attack Sari, tough the attack of Prowl was strangely... helpful. Wreck-Gar finally immobilized Bumblebee, which meant the only left one were Prowl and Optimus Prime. Not bad for a bunch of losers. Unfortunately, this is when Soudwave realized he only needed Prime to win the battle. Optimus whipped away the whole team in one strike, Snarl tried to charge again, but without success. Prime then took down Scrapper, and finally used Wreck-Gar as shield to block Sari's attack. Optimus was about to axe her when it was finally revealed than, all along, Prowl was struggling against Soundwave control. Throwing his ninja stars to the Decepticon, it allowed to Prime to free his mind, relieved to see he hadn't harm Sari. From this point the Substitute Autobots let Optimus Prime deal with the problem. He dealt with it pretty good.
After that the team disbanded, Scrapper judging it was just not worth the pain, Snarl simply wanting to go home and Sari being all to happy her management duties were over. As for Wreck-Gar, well his mind was already on something else... And so it was the end of the Substitute Autobots... Until next time? Human Error, Part 2
