Replica AllSpark
- The replica Allspark is an occult boondoggle in the live-action film continuity family.
The replica Allspark is a product of Starscream's somewhat dubious initiative to create an exact copy of the lost artifact using Sector Seven's exhaustive data, then jump-start it with a human robot sacrifice.
This was a popular plan. You go into a city-state like Trypticon, and like a lot of places across the planet, you can see that the Allspark has been gone for thousands of years, and nothing has replaced it. The general population, the kind of Joe-sixtrain that doesn't care about high-minded rhetoric or agendas, was failed by Megatron's leadership. And Prime's leadership, and every successive leader who promised that somehow these city-states were going to regenerate-- but they never have.
So it's not surprising that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy towards species who aren't like them or anti-Autobot sentiment or anti-drone sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
When a population is sapped of hope, all they can think about is the shitty state of their city-state, and they will be ready to try anything, to believe in anything or anyone that promises to relieve their suffering.
Construction
The replica Allspark was constructed over a period of about a month using a combination of drones and slave labor.
When it came time to activate the replica Allspark, five prisoners-of-war were sacrificed to activate it.
An energy pulse was used to extinguish all five lives simultaneously, then gather the energy released at the moment of Endspark and store it in a generator at the cube's base. Once fed back into the cube this energy was supposed to open a connection through which would flow a infinite wellspring of power, much like the self-renewing energy source of a Transformer's own spark.
It makes perfect sense really; Perform a death-ritual before of a block with ancient symbols carved on it in order to open a gateway to the afterlife, which will supply you with cheap non-polluting electricity.
Origin
The genesis of this plan appears to lie in Starscream's attempt to re-create the circumstances of an ancient illustration depicting the Allspark's energy being regenerated while figures stand around it, their sparks feeding it. Perfectly sensible!
There are two problems however:
- Starscream only sacrificed five sparks, the illustration clearly shows six figures-- no wonder it didn't work!
- Starscream got the image backwards. The Allspark wasn't being re-ignited by six sparks that were sacrificed... it was channeling energy into the entombed creatures after absorbing the power channeled from a sun harvester.
