Predacon (G1)
The Generation 1 Predacons were a sub-team of Decepticons consisting of Razorclaw (lion/leader), Rampage (tiger), Divebomb (vulture), Tantrum (bull), and Headstrong (rhino). They could combine to form Predaking.
They were often used in the fiction as foils to be set against either Sky Lynx or the Dinobots.
TOYS:
The Predacons were the largest G1 combiners, each aproximately the size of a Mega/Voyager toy of the modern era and some runs incorperating die-cast metal. Predaking was thus the most impressive combined robot in terms of size and weight in the Generation 1 line.
Comics
In the UK G1 comics the Predacon Divebomb was revealed to have stolen that name from the Dinobot Swoop after defeating him on Cybertron. This lead to a rivalry between the two and between their teams.
In the second Dreamwave War Within miniseries Starscream was revealed to have lead a splinter-faction that called itself the Predacons back in the early days of the war.
Beast Wars
Hasbro reused the name "Predacons" for the Beast Wars era faction decended for the Decepticons. The only direct link between these two groups yet hinted at has been in the IDW Beast Wars miniseries where we see a Beast Wars Predacon base on Cybertron that has decorated it's walls with faction symbols based on each of the G1 Preds.
