Bumper (also sometimes called Bumblejumper is an Autobot character in the Generation 1 continuity.
Bumper began his existence as part of the same Microman toy line that birthed all the Autobot minibots. However, unlike the rest of those toys he was not given his own identity upon inclusion in Hasbro's Transformers. Instead he was simply sold on Bumblebee and Cliffjumper cards. Bumper is his own very distinct mold, though based on the same transformation scheme as those two. Whether his inclusion was intention or accidental is unknown.
Transformer fans unofficially dubbed this unnamed mystery character "Bumblejumper" as a combination of the names Bumblebee and Cliffjumper, since he was sold on both cards. Eventually some fans began to shorten this to just "Bumper" which had the plus of being less nonsensical and sounding more like an actual Transformer name.
It was under the name Bumper that this toy/character made its first (and so far only) appearence in official continuity in the Dreamwave Generation 1 ongoing comic. Making it his official cannonical name.
In this comic he was characterized as a likeable, reletively inexperienced young Autobot.
