Talk:Scorpia (G2)
There is no evidence besides a feminine-sounding name from which to conclude that Scorpia is female. This is how unkillable Internet rumors get started, and I disapprove. -LV 15:54, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
I admit it's circumstantial, but The "ia" ending to a name pretty much universally designates a female. (can you think of a case it doesn't). I asked Derik what he thought and he agreed it was a strong enough case to consider her so. I can alter the entry though to be more clear that the gender is implied rather than explicit. You know, I don't know why I didn't pick up on this earlier, but Scorpia is also not a Decepticon. It has a G2 Autobot symbol on its card, just like Autobot, Superion, Ultra Magnus and Galvatron. People have been calling it a Decepticon for ages, and I don't know if they just want someone for Autobot to fight or they think it looks evil or what. I'm going to go ahead and blame Neale. I am content with the current clarification of the sex issue, but there is no justification for calling Scorpia a Decepticon. It's not even like it has a horribly misleading name like Deceptor (also an Autobot). -LV 17:13, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Ah, do you know where there are scans of the front of her package then? I've been looking all over for some. I've found Galvatron and Autobot but so far that's it. Actually it seems fairly hard to find pics of any of the G1 Kronoform watches either. Lots of knockoffs but I'm having a heck of a time finding picks of the actual TF versions. Anyone help?
I don't think it's too wierd that she's become a 'Con by recieved wisdom though. The toy is a scorpion. It's not a "good" reason, mind you but it doesn't exactly suggest Autobot straight off. Given that Galvatron also has an Autobot detailed package I suppose you can't make a faction determination for her either way really. ZacWilliam 17:28, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Pincer is an Autobot scorpion.
And I'm with LV on this one. Scorpia being a Decepticon is pure fan-conjecture based on... well, nothing, and I don't think that has any place in this wiki. I'll scan the image of packaged Scorpia from the Generations book to put in the article just to drive home the "Autobot" point. - User: M Sipher
On the "merchandise" point... the watches kinda skirt that line. I mean... technically, wouldn't this make Glyph, Tap-Out and Rook "merchandise" as well? Just saying, not really arguing for or against, just thinking we could probably use a little clarification on that. - User: M Sipher
I do not actually seem to have ever saved any images of the G2 watches carded, though I have images of Kaltor's packaging (front and back) saved. I thought I had Autoceptor, but maybe not. Still, at least I know Botch has all that art. We may or may not have a Scorpia cardback around the apartment. I'll have to check.
That being said, I think you CAN make an assumption of faction from the fact that there's an Autobot symbol on the card; just because Galvatron's doesn't mesh with what we know about him doesn't justify discarding the only established faction for Scorpia, in my opinion. -LV 17:54, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
