Hey, thanks for your help with the US Navy article, as I was wondering which destroyer carried the railgun. I just added the Topeka to the article. Was that the correct submarine? I recall the Topeka being used for filming, but it seems weird for a Pacific-ported sub to be patrolling the Atlantic, unless there's something I'm not aware of in naval operations. --FFN 05:02, 25 June 2009 (EDT)
— - I seem to recall another name for the sub being used in the film, but it escapes me at the moment. The deployments don't matter much; Stennis and her battlegroup are also Pacific based, but shown operating either in the Med or Red Sea. --ShinRa Actual 18:18, 25 June 2009 (EDT)
- Since you seem to be the only other person on this wiki with any knowledge of the navy, are you sure if the Roosevelt as it sank had her hull number as 71 and not the Stennis' 74? According to the Feb teaser trailer, you can clearly see a big number 4 on the bow of the flight deck during the underwater shot, though it's possible they fixed it since the trailer for the released film. --FFN 05:20, 30 June 2009 (EDT)
- I just got home from seeing it again; The number on the island as she sinks is 71, but you're right, the CGI guys goofed, and the number on the bow underwater is 74. Oddly enough, there's no name on the stern as she sinks. I also confirmed that the sub is USS Topeka. There's also a very odd problem in that they show (And call them) Jordanian UH-60s crashing and giving Simmons the radio....but the Pyramids (and presumably the fight) is in Egypt. I think I'm forgetting something else, but it'll come to me eventually. ShinRa Actual 20:39, 30 June 2009 (EDT)
