Frederick "Rick" Ottman is one of Professor Arkeville's three interns. He and his best friend, Will, get into all sorts of trouble together. He thinks Sephie is cute, but won't admit it except under threat of death.

• Rick is one of only a small number of Shattered Glass characters who are not based on Generation 1 characters. In true crazy mirror universe style, it is Will (the Shattered Glass version of Fred's friend Billy) who has insatiable appetite that is normally Fred's distinguishing feature.
• Rick was more-or-less named after professional wrestler Fred Ottman, best known as "Tugboat" and "Typhoon" in the late 80s.
