The Statue of Liberty is a large (even by Transformer standards) hollow statue depicting a crowned human female holding a torch and a stone tablet. It is located on Liberty Island off the coast of New York City, and serves as an icon for both the city and the entire United States of America.

Fiction

Generation 1 cartoon continuity

When the Autobots developed the anti-rust chemical corrostop, they planned to cover all of Earth's monuments with it, starting with the Statue of Liberty. One of the Aerialbots initially mistook Lady Liberty for a "non-functioning old robot", but was quickly corrected.

The Autobots later needed some corrostop to halt an outbreak of Cosmic Rust in their ranks, so they went to scrape some off the Statue of Liberty. Megatron didn't take kindly to hearing about this, and sent Menasor to destroy the entire statue with the Lightning Bug. A battle broke out around the Statue of Liberty, which ended with the Autobots saving it, and by extension, themselves. Cosmic Rust

Marvel Comics continuity

Inspired by a vandalizing youth, the Battlechargers started spraying graffiti all over America's various landmarks. Their final target was the Statue of Liberty, which the two covered in the badly written message "HUMANS ARE WIMPS" before almost knocking the torch out of the statue's hand. The Battlechargers were taken out of action soon afterwards, but the cost of cleaning the statue was estimated to 50,000 dollars. Luckily, Donny Finkleberg had recently acquired such an amount of money, and donated it towards the restoration fund. Decepticon Graffiti!

During a battle in New York, Omega Supreme blew a hole straight through both Devastator and the Statue of Liberty. All Hail Megatron #12
