Nemesis Prime is a Unicron-aligned Decepticon in the Universe series.
A Herald of Unicron, Nemesis Prime is a dark clone of an Optimus Prime who was was left for dead by Megazarak to rot on the shores of the Rust Sea.
The most vile creation of the evil Unicron is a creature so shameful and foul that Autobot warriors fear to speak of it. Nemesis Prime - the powerful but twisted clone of the legendary Optimus Prime, pulled out of time and perverted to the cruel villian's purposes - possesses all the knowledge and wisdom of the Autobot leader, but is powered by a deep love of evil and destruction. Perhaps the greatest threat to the Universe ever created by Unicron. Nemesis Prime carries within its body the Dead Matrix, an artifact capable of negating and destroying forever the powerful Autobot Matrix of Leadership.

Nemesis Prime was once the Cybertronian leader Optimus Prime from another Dimension conquered by Unicron. In that reality The Prime was defeated by the herald of Unicron known as Megazarak, captured, it's Spark tortured and experimented on by the Chaos Bringer. Unicron kept the Prime locked in a state of un-being, it's spark separated from body, yet prevented from joining the All-Spark. Tortured for an eternity until pain became indistiguishable from pleasure and the former Autobot longed for only this sensation. Broken, he was reformatted into Nemesis Prime and granted Unicron's Dead Matrix, the former Autobots Matrix which during the centuries of torture had rotted and been perversed into a weapon capable of annihilating Primus, just as the Autobot Matrix possesses the power to destroy Unicron.
It is the Commander and most Evil member of the Decepticons gathered by Unicron. It also serves as one of the greatest threats to the universe next to Unicron, possessing the wisdom of an Autobot leader yet devoid of all compassion. Of note is that Nemesis Prime is listed in Biography material as a "Champion" of Unicron rather than a Herald. This is believed to denote that the Character voluntarily carries out it's role rather than having to be constantly coerced or forced into action as G1 Galvatron often was.

Nemesis Prime and Ramjet arrived via dimensional portal over an abandoned Cybertron threatened by the Unicron Singularity. Quickly, they attempted to amass followers to aide them in their attempt to unleash Nemesis Prime's Dead Matrix on Primus' essence, allowing their master Unicron a posthumous victory. Ultimately, the followers amounted to little more than a handful of Scrapmetal.
The pair were countered by Vector Prime and Sentinel Maximus. During a battle with Sentinel Maximus, Nemesis Prime was able to seal himself into Primus' spark chamber alone. However, Nemesis Prime was defeated by Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus en route from the end of the Universe conflict.
Nemesis Prime suffered heavy damages at the hands of Ultra Magnus and was sealed away for repairs, while the Dead Matrix was locked away in the Archives.

- Nemesis Prime is a redeco of Big Convoy, released as a Target exclusive in 2004 as part of the Universe line. He transforms into a wooly mammoth, with a "third mode" comprised of robot weaponry emerging from the mammoth's hide. Concealed in the mammoth's head and back are a plasma pulse cannon and a semi-automatic fusion rocket launcher. His arms conceal blood-red battle tonfas (whether they are cast in a blood red material, or are simply stained from use, has yet to be determined), and his hips house variable-frequency gatling lasers. Attached to his ankles are a pair of ordnance launchers, the quarrels of which Nemesis Prime has also used in melee combat.
