This article is about the mass-produced drones of Planet X. For Soundwave's partner, see Laserbeak (Cybertron).
Laserbeak drones are agents of Planet X in the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy.
"We can't stop here, this is Bird-land!"

The Laserbeak drones are soldiers of Planet X, a mindless drone army accompanying the Noisemaze Mass-Production Versions into battle against other worlds. Together, they have consumed countless planets.

Soundwave has programmed one of these drones with a part of his personality, allowing that drone to serve as his partner.

Eons of your years ago, the armies of Planet X moved across the cosmos, consuming world after world. However, that march stopped when they reached Gigantion the Giant Planet. The mass armies were decimated in the war, and seemingly whatever was left was incinerated in the explosion that destroyed Planet X itself.

While exploring the lower levels of Gigantion, Lori, Override and Wing Saber discovered an ancient holographic recording that showed the original invasion of Gigantion by the mass-produced Planet X warriors, which included Laserbeak drones. Ambush

Later, after a clash between Galvatron and Starscream caused their space bridge to collapse, the Autobots and their human allies were trapped in Gigantion's dimension. They managed to build a new space bridge generator, but the new space bridge they created brought in endless swarms of Laserbeak drones to attack them! Optimus Prime told the Autobots to fight back, but they were quickly overwhelmed and forced to destroy the space bridge generator, which caused the Laserbeak drones to fade out of existence. Cybertron

  • Soundwave w/ Laserbeak (Voyager class, 2005/2006)
Technically, this toy represents Soundwave's partner, but it could be considered to represent the Laserbeak drones as well.
This mold was used to make Hell Buzzsaw and Blockrock.

Notes

  • Where exactly the Laserbeak drones seen in the episode Guardian come from differs between the two versions of the episode: in Galaxy Force it's said that they come through time from an era when Planet X still existed, while in Cybertron they're simply present-day survivors of Planet X.
