Synopsis
Over the Arabian peninsula, Thundercracker leads a squadron of Decepticon Planes in a sortie to destroy an oil storage depot. Megatron and Soundwave monitor the events from the Decepticon submersible storage vat off the coast of Madagascar. They are pleased that the Autobots are distracted by the attack and are seemingly unaware of the true plan.
Over the last month, five supertankers have been raided and sunk by the Decepticons; and now the sixth, the 'Orion' is in their sights. The crew of the doomed ship radio for help, but their transmissions are blocked by Soundwave. As the oil is violently removed, the great ship lists and finally breaks in two; taking its crew to their doom. Megatron commands his vessel to return to Refinery Sector 19, hidden in the North Atlantic trench.
Back at Autobot headquarters, Optimus Prime and Prowl monitor the Decepticon leadership. The loss of the six tankers has not gone unnoticed. Prowl suggests tainting the oil in a tanker with corrosive acid that would ravage the Decepticons should they try to use it. Optimus Prime is intrigued by the idea, but unsure of how the acidified oil could be safely stored.
Soon, the Decepticons learn of the launch of a new supertanker. The 'Colossus' will be the largest such vessel ever. Her holds capable of containing five million barrels of crude. The newly discovered fracture proof alloy used in her construction renders her unsinkable. Megatron plans to attack her on her maiden voyage from the Gulf of Oman.
As the ship sets sail, the crew complain that the oil has a strange smell but their job must be done. The Decepticons quickly and silently attach to the vessel, sucking out many gallons of oil. Optimus Prime and Prowl dispatch the first of two waves of Autobots from Base Epsilon.
After draining half of the 'Colossus' contents, the Decepticon ship begins to malfunction. A sudden Autobot assault worsens their situation. Hovering over the ocean, the Autobots levitate the ship free of the Decepticon's clutches. The Decepticon's force field fails as the second wave of Autobots arrives. Megatron and Soundwave escape as the submersible storage vat is destroyed by the Autobot's thermal missiles.
The victorious Autobots fly the tanker to New York City. The radar operators at JFK airport and a lone fisherman at Staten Island watch the arrival. Optimus Prime tells Prowl to ensure that the witnesses memories of the events are erased.
In the Mexican desert, an oil exploration crew draws their bit out of the ground. Half of the bit has been sheared off by the lasers of the underground Decepticon Fortress Gamma....
