Mauler

Added to the arsenal in 1985, the Mauler MBT (Manned Battle Tank) was created to be the Joe team's mass-production main battle tank (in contrast to the MOBAT, which was treated early on as a one-of-a-kind unit). The primary operator is Heavy Metal.

When Megatron ('s clone) tore through the London docklands, Bazooka called in the Maulers to back up Action Force and the Autobots. When the Dragonflies proved useless, Flint ordered the Maulers to engage Megatron...which only made the robot mad. The entire squadron was smashed to bits. Ancient Relics!
Trivia
- Among G. I. Joe fans, there appears to be at least some degree of disagreement as to whether or not the Mauler is an original design, a derivative of the M1 Abrams main battle tank, or a derivative of another main battle tank. This speculation is fueled in part because of the fact that many early Joe vehicles; such as the Dragonfly, Skystriker, and Tomahawk; were indeed derived from real-life military hardware.
