Scrambled field generators are technology from the Beast Era portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

One of Rattrap's inventions, the scrambled field generator is a tiny device for hiding Maximal energy signatures from Vehicon drones, allowing them to freely move around Cybertropolis without being detected. In theory, anyway. They can also be configured to mask the wearer, giving them a Maximal signature, and even making them look like someone else.

When the Maximals were hunting for the sparks which Megatron had captured and hidden somewhere in the city, Rattrap handed around his new invention for use in moving around the city undetected. The devices proved somewhat less than effective, and the Vehicons were able to track the Maximals. Sparkwar Pt. II: The Search Rattrap refined the scrambled field generators, and they were used again when the Maximals attempted to infiltrate the Grand Mal in search of the sparks. Cheetor used one to disguise the energy signature of a drone, making it appear to be a Maximal, so the other Vehicons blasted it. Unfortunately Strika found the disk, and reconfigured its harmonics, an action which disabled all of the disks, making the Maximals visible to Vehicon sensors. Sparkwar Pt. III: The Siege While the Maximals were under siege in the Grand Mal, Rattrap tweaked the devices again, altering them so they would make whoever was wearing them look like a random Maximal. Silverbolt, Blackarachnia and Nightscream planted them on Vehicon drones, fooling the Vehicon generals and even Megatron himself. Endgame Pt. I: The Downward Spiral
