This article is about the evil Autobot. For his heroic counterpart, see Blurr (G1). For a list of other meanings, see Blurr (disambiguation).
Blurr is an evil Autobot Seeker from the "Shattered Glass" continuity family.
Blurr sort of shows up in the middle there.

Before the war, Blurr was an erudite and well-spoken lecturer. Since then, however, he's traded in his tidy look for the musk of a bloodthirsty warrior. This doesn't mean he's any less of an intellectual, however, and Optimus Prime puts Blurr to good use as a data interceptor. Of the utmost importance to him is retrieving stolen images of upcoming Decepticon prototypes, which he uses to gain an advantage over his surprised opponents. Also, as his name suggests, he's quite fast on both his feet and wheels. This is due to his special ability to steal kinetic energy, as it saps an object's (or, more often, an enemy's) speed, and adds it to his own, if only temporarily. He must, however, time the activation of this ability correctly, depending on the object he's stealing the energy from (like a laser blast), or else he could wind up with major, if not fatal, damage.

His cousin, Crasher, is regrettably on the side of his heroic enemies.

Fiction

Shattered Glass

As Cliffjumper was being "re"introduced to the Autobots in Iacon, Blurr was among the few standing guard around the smelting pool. He laughed with the others when Optimus Prime shot Cliffjumper and ordered him dumped in the Empties.

Later, as Prime was training with hard-light constructs, Blurr gave an update on the construction of the Ark they were constructing to conquer other worlds, and warned that the Decepticons were planning to mount an attack. Prime laughed off this news.

Blurr was seen again when the Decepticons attacked the Ark's launch platform. Shattered Glass

After Wheeljack's creations, the Dinobots, ran amok during a battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, Optimus Prime assigned Blurr and all available warriors to recapture the renegade monsters. When attempting to recapture the flying Swoop, Blurr and his fellow Seekers forced Jazz to do their dirty work for them. When Huffer sent out an alert on Grimlock's location, Blurr and Rodimus took off after the prototype Dinobot.

Entering a dank cavern to search for their prey, the Seekers came across some stray energon rods. The incautious Rodimus got himself caught in a corroding force field while trying to retrieve the rods, and Blurr was of half a mind to leave him to his fate. When Rodimus fired some photon bursts at him, though, Blurr took the opportunity to steal the speed from the assault, converting it into enough momentum to launch him through the field and push Rodimus to safety, before the field could trap him as well. The Autobots were then confronted with a rival search team, Cliffjumper and Sideswipe from the Decepticons. While arranging a cease fire, Rodimus and Cliffjumper got caught in a trapdoor, leaving Blurr alone with his former comrade, Sideswipe. Reluctant allies at best, Blurr informed Sideswipe of his suspicions that they were in the lair of the Omega Terminus.

These suspicions were soon confirmed, as the duo fled from a horde of mutants and found themselves in the presence of the Omega Terminus itself. Any plans for stealing its power for himself were quickly waylaid by the Terminus's new guardian: Grimlock, now granted his own ember and vast reserves of intelligence by the machine's power. Grimlock and the Omega Terminus's zombie servitors nearly overran Blurr and the Transformers until Cliffjumper deduced a supply of scraplets would destroy the dead robots. Grimlock was still a formidable threat, however, and knocked most of the combatants over the side of a cliff, leaving them dangling precariously above the abyss below. Blurr tried to exploit a flaw in Grimlock's upgrade, taunting him so that he became angry and reverted to his simpleton dino-mode. His efforts failed, but DID distract Grimlock long enough for Cliffjumper to get into position. One speed-stealing effect and a forward charge by the tiny Autobot later, and Grimlock was hurtling into the abyss himself.

Although he survived the dungeon, Blurr now had to face the wrath of Optimus Prime for losing Grimlock. Prime was hardly impressed with his excuse, that Grimlock had gone rogue and would've killed him and Rodimus if left unchecked. Fortunately, Blurr never had to learn just how little Optimus valued him next to his favorite killing machine, as Grimlock returned to the Autobots and agreed to serve once more. Dungeons & Dinobots

Blurr was witness to Optimus Prime's rage when he learned about Ricochet's plan to capture Megatron. Later, when Rodimus suggested that they launch the Ark without Optimus Prime, Blurr objected. He was thrown overboard along with the rest of the Optimus loyalists when the Ark launched. Optimus Prime eventually returned, and, finding the Ark gone, promised that Blurr had failed for the last time. Do Over

Later, Grimlock used his corpse as a chew toy. Reunification: Part 3

Timelines

Thank Primus they retooled me to have a Blurr head!
  • Sideswipe & Blurr (BotCon box set, 2008)
    • Accessories: Two launchers, two missiles, key
Part of BotCon 2008's exclusive souvenir set of four figures, Blurr, a redeco of Cybertron Blurr (itself a retool of Armada Blurr), transforms into a sleek Cybertronian race car. Interestingly enough, he is a retool of a retool, as his head is not the same as Cybertron Blurr's, merely a directly "evil" version of Generation 1 Blurr. Inserting his Cyber Key into the space under Blurr's spoiler causes the rear side panels of his vehicle mode to flip down into a "flight mode". This mode also makes his twin spring-loaded missile launchers available, which become hand-held weapons in robot mode.
The original version of Blurr's mold was also used for Universe Swerve.
