There seems to be a LOT of emphasis put on the emotional states of the characters, a lot of it repetitious. I counted "shocked" in there at least three times. It seems really overdone for such a short summary. Is this meant to be the style of the article (perhaps the story itself is overly descriptive of the emotional states, and the intent is to copy that), or is it just plain bad writing?
