A former mechanic, Clutch is now a G.I. Joe transport specialist. He can drive pretty much any ground vehicle you present him with, though he prefers the ones with a lotta horsepower, and is usually associated with the VAMP attack vehicle.

Shortly after G.I. Joe was formed, Clutch watched Quick Kick and Roadblock spar with eachother. When Snake-Eyes interrupted, he and the others gave him a warm welcome by dogpiling him. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers issue 2 Clutch later helped defend the SPS Research Facility from Cobra, but was gunned down by Laserbeak. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers issue 3

Clutch participated in an attack on a Cobra smuggling facility in New York City, driving a VAMP into action with Rock 'n Roll manning the machine gun. The vehicle proved unable to stand up to Cobra's new Flight Pods, and ended up being hit by a missile. Targets of Opportunity
