Ground crawler

Ground crawlers are a Cybertronian pest from the War for Cybertron portion of the Prime continuity family.

Ground crawlers are organic pests which have somehow come to live on Cybertron. Resembling nothing so much as giant green maggots, they amble about on the ground minding their own business. Evolution has prepared ground crawlers for the harsh environment of the Autobot/Decepticon war — they sport a number of defensive measures, being able to produce spikes, emit small bursts of energy, and even generate a protective field around themselves. When threatened, they can burrow into the ground to escape. They're vulnerable to plasma weaponry.
