Of the warriors who stand with Soundwave, Laserbeak may say the least, but he quickly distinguishes himself, as his powerful laser attacks can pin down an Autobot attack force... when it isn't cutting them to shreds.

Fiction

Exodus novel

Laserbeak never actually appears in Exodus, remaining within Soundwave in all his scenes. It is mentioned that Megatron despises them, that Soundwave finds Laserbeak more valuable than Rumble and Frenzy, and that when Soundwave does some intense thinking, his Minicons inside get restless. Certainly Laserbeak must have been active during the novel's timeframe.

When the Autobots were brought to Soundwave in the Kaon Prison, Laserbeak swooped down and perched on his arm. Later, when Optimus and his team attempted a prison break to free Zeta Prime, Laserbeak was Soundwave's last line of defense, ejecting from Soundwave and screeching across Soundwave's laboratory at high speeds, blasting laser bursts onto the Autobots below. He was eventually downed, however, and accompanied Soundwave in a hasty retreat, but not before Soundwave fatally wounded Zeta prime. Transformers: War for Cybertron
