He's a really useful engine.

Railspike Major is the Autobot bonded to Theta Supreme, an Omega Sentinel. Theta Supreme was crippled by a plasma mine/blaster over Beta IV, and his connection to Railspike Major was presumably severed when Starscream destroyed him while he was being towed away.
