The name Hot Rod has been used by more than one Transformers character:

• 1986 — Hot Rod, aka "Rodimus", aka "Rodimus Prime", aka "Rodimus Major", the Autobot from the Generation 1 series. For toys of this character, see Hot Rod (G1) toys.

• 1990 — The Hot Rod Patrol, a hip and happening team of Autobot Micromasters from Generation 1.

• 2001 — Dark Hot Rod, the evil clone of Hot Rod turned good in the Generation 1 continuity.

• 2009 — Hot Rod, the Henkei! Henkei! character.

• 2010 — Hot Rod, the Autobot who would eventually rename himself Rodiumus in Animated.

"Hotrod" is the European name for Generation 2 Jolt.

"Hot Rod" is also the Japanese name for Armada Hot Shot.
