Summary
Blackarachnia and Cheetor are being tutored by Optimus Primal on finding their still point during battle so they can transform, all this is unfolding while being watched by an unknown set of bat eyes. Nearby, Rattrap is still trying to transform, unsuccessfully, Optimus Primal gives Rattrap some advice, which he rejects by saying primal should save his advice for the still missing Rhinox and Silverbolt.
Primal notices the as yet unknown Nightscream watching the proceedings from above and scares him off. All three Maximals pursue the intruder only to discover he is another Maximal. At this point, Jetstorm and his Aero Drones appear and attack the Maximals. The Maximals run away, followed by Jetstorm who fires a homing mine after the Maximals that is deflected with a sonic blast from the bat.
Nightscream, being the kind soul he is, leads the Maximals back to his hideout and on the way recounts the story about the virus spreading over the planet of Cybertron infecting everyone, how Megatron’s drones hunted down the last survivors and how he fled underground, went offline, and become a bat. When the Maximals reach their destination, Primal discovers an organic tree on Cybertron which everyone except Cheetor eats the fruit from. This turns their animal instincts dial up to eleven. Jetstorm reappears and attacks while Cheetor and Nightscream attempt to take the food away from increasingly feral Maximals who ignore the battle. Cheetor notices the trunk of the technorganic tree and cuts it down. This turns the affected Maximals back to their old selves. Nightscream is badly hurt by a blast from Jetstorm and the only way to save his life is for Primal to reformat him. Optimus, drained from the reformatting, tells Cheetor to lead the Maximals as he was right to destroy the tree since its purely organic nature was devolving their technorganic bodies. Cheetor asks Nightscream if he wants the join the team which he does. A fruit from the technorganic tree puts down roots.
