Wing is a Transformer from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

That fashion isn't going to catch. *rimshot*

Not much is known about the mysterious Wing. He is neither Autobot nor Decepticon (though according to some he sounds like the former), disguises himself as to not appear Cybertronian, and wields swords as his main weaponry. He's probably gonna bite it at some point.

Wing stumbled upon Deadlock while overlooking a strange facility on an unknown planet. Upon approaching the Decepticon, Deadlock took offensive measures against Wing—who continuously dodged the assault—never laying a finger on his opponent. After convincing Deadlock that he meant no harm, Wing identified the structure as a base for slave traders. Wing struck a deal with Deadlock, offering his assistance in acquiring a ship in exchange for helping him free the prisoners. After the two took down a pair of security guards, Wing's garbs were set aflame, revealing himself to be Cybertronian. He claimed that he was neither Autobot nor Decepticon but simply "alone". Before they struck, Wing asked for Deadlock's name, who used the alias "Drift". As they went into the encampment, Deadlock deserted Wing for a ship to escape the planet, though is stopped by one of the traders. Wing then somehow rescued Deadlock from this predicament and took him back to Crystal City for repairs. Drift #1

When Deadlock woke up from his repairs, Wing told him of how when the war started, the Circle of Light had convened and decided to depart, not wanting to get involved in the civil war. At first they only moved so far, but as the war spread across the galaxy they had to hide, and eventually formed the new Crystal City which Wing deemed a "utopia". Wing is then called to answer to Dai Atlas for not only going out to rescue the slaves, but bringing Deadlock back to Crystal City, exposing and therefore endangering thier existance. Wing defends his decisions, saying that they have created thier own faction and that they are gicing up thier morals in order to maintain thier way of life. In the end Dai Atlas charges Wing with guarding Deadlock. Wing would have a discussion with Deadlock on what the Decepticon symbol means. After coming to the conclusion that it means Deadlock is the most powerful, Wing tells him to prove it and has Deadlock engage him in a fistfight, neither party using weapons. After Wing subdues Deadlock, he says they will do this every day. If Deadlock ever wins, he is free to go. If not, he stays in Crystal City. Deadlock claims this isn't fair as Wing has trained for years, Wing tells him to learn. After weeks of fighting, Deadlock tells Wing why he joined the Decepticons was not for power, but to change the politically corrupt government. Wing tells him that his spark was in the right place, but joining the Decepticons was the wrong way to do things. Their session is interrupted when they are asked to go to the control room for an emergency. Drift #2

• According to the creator of the character, Shane McCarthy, there is no connection between this Wing and his Multiforce counterpart, he just liked the name and decided to use it.
